Ruth and I purchased Willow in Sept. 22,2012 and started camping in the spring of 2013
We both had camped years ago but over those years our interests have changed. Now our trips seem to involve more hiking and sightseeing in cute little villages and of course always photographic opportunities.
Because we are getting older, and can't rely on each other memories! we decided to create a blog with photos and ratings of campgrounds we run across in our travels....Some we have stayed at, others we toured with thoughts of staying in in the future......

Site # 4 17.50 2.5 hrs. from Calgary.
This site is private against the mountain. Lots of trees, open for a view of the pass, rainbows, trains, and tunnels. Some noise from Trans Canada, but minimal, trains are louder.
Seems to be thunderstorms through the night, makes for great photos. Tent did not leak! packed up wet though.
Outdoor biffy could be cleaner and fresh water at a minimum.
Sani-dump rustic, need hose.
We have stayed here numerous times with both tent and van, and like it..excellent base camp when touring area...always seems to have a thundershower but that's just fine.

Site # 23 has view of Lac des Arcs. There is highway noise from Trans Canada and some noise from Exshaw plant across the water, trains etc.
Brand new mats stolen from campsite while we were away in the daytime. Lesson learned.
I have never had anything stolen from campsite!

First Come First Served. no services
Early arrival or it's full.. Site # 67 was very crowded small site,
Moved to site # 68 next day little larger and trees around 3 sides
Sites across road are against river # 69-70 & 71 are a little larger and very private.
$27.50 x 3= $82.20 Showers are older but clean.
Field area has such a variety of hikes and interest points its always a pleasure to stay in area.

15 min south of Revelstoke Hwy. 23 (5 hrs. West of Calgary)
Site # 4 $22.00 Great campground, long switchback road off highway, all sites shady, green, clean. #4 beautiful but hot in late afternoon, best on other side of road. Great picnic tables large beam, cement. Sutherland Falls nearby, Man made lake for swimming area, Old Homestead walk. Right on Arrow Lake but sites not visible to water. 15 min to Shelter Bay Free Ferry. Cell phone coverage only in certain spots in Day Use area.
We have stayed here numerous times, a favorite. good spot for base camp when touring the busy area......Some first come first serve and also reserveable. Busy area, alternate is Martha Creek north of Revelstoke.

Good alternative to Blanket Creek. About the same distance from Revelstoke as Blanket Creek. About 15 min. north along the Lake Revelstoke beyond the dam.
We reserved site # 39 $ 21.00 4 nites + reservation fee = $102.90
It was a large clean gravel site against a green space. It was hot that week +32 and not to much shade in that area. The first come first serve sites were located in trees, but they are mostly jack pine so not ultimate shade.
Our site was not against the water, but great little breeze off the water helped...We put our Ikea sail up over table and that helped......

When we are rating campsites, this one is the exception, its very rustic yes there are showers but not the quality of Kokanee Creek, not the facilities of other campgrounds but the atmosphere is wonderful the peace and quiet the colors in the evg. skies.
It is an escape. One of my favorites.

Site # 113 $23.00 Campground is extremely shady, green large cedar trees throughout.
Power site # 137 is the best of the serviced sites, a little shade. split rail fence between units. Close to beach, washrooms.
Attendant will charge toys. Big sandy beaches, Kokanee Salmon run through park (Sept.)
Campground completely booked, reservations July and Aug. Better chances June and Sept.

On the whole, we feel BC parks are much nicer than Alberta. Just better facilities overall, cleaner, I think they recognize the power of tourism....

Rating # 4 Large campground with very crowded sites.
Be careful selecting sites. Good showers serviced. sites are dirty gravel, dusty.

Site # FF38 serviced 5 nites 172.50 (with reservation fee) This site has green space on one side bit of a gully so you feel a little more private....Trees, some shade. About 15K South of Jasper, Hwy 93. We went in July and got the last serviced site.

Rating #3 no showers, no sani-dump. sites are crowded and rather small although clean and lots of trees. $17.60 Its a rustic campground not very large maybe 35? sites close to water are crowded and not private. Biffy's are clean . narrow access to water.
Good for a stop over.

Rating #3 no showers, service, rustic. pretty sites on Mosquito Creek. Smaller sites in the trees and pull up sites in the open against creek for larger units.
Site # 1 $15.70 in trees next to water. Small campground maybe 40 sites
Of course spectacular views...Would be great for 2-3 days relax on the road. Thunderstorm rolled in late afternoon for about an hour, site open enough to watch the action.
Dusty, sites in trees closer to hwy. not noisy.

Biffys are outhouses but passed the smell test.
Hwy 54 3K west of Caroline Site # 28 next to lake, lots of trees, shady. Windy off lake.
Campground attendents wonderful, Ruth and Leonard gave us batteries out of their flashlights and offered to pick some up in town when they went, if they didn't work.
Arrived Monday noon, quiet and peaceful... Hugh thunderstorm Tuesday night...so glad to be in van....

Nakusp Hot Springs
Hwy 23 long access rd. winding, hilly but paved.
Site #3 (overflow) $ 19.75 was shady and the most private of all other sites. Area below pools are a parking lot, side x side. The hot springs have public showers only, dressing rooms...No photos of actual campsite!!!

Rating # 2 showers, sani-dump Shady good trees but not private, sites are very crowded, close together....noisy.D 21 $27.40 (no service) very expensive for what you get.....
no photos. Would be alright for a weekend at the hot springs but I would opt. for Dry Gulch down the road. Provincial park much cheaper....first come first serve...
